“organized by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and celebrated each year on 4 February, is an opportunity to rally the international community to end the injustice of preventable suffering from cancer.”

Having faced cancer myself I want to raise awareness for the work that is offered to those enduring cancer and the work being done to cure cancer. No-one wants to be sick. No-one wants to suffer with cancer or watch someone else struggling with cancer. For a long time it was a taboo topic, not talked about. And it is a horrible ordeal that people still would rather ignore. We all know that many die of cancer. We can support each other.

I love UICC’s message for this year:  

“This year is a reminder of the enduring power of cooperation and collective action. When we choose to come together, we can achieve what we all wish for: a healthier, brighter world without cancer. Together, all of our actions matter. This World Cancer Day, who are you and what will you do?”

We can support others with cancer or their family members. We all have something to offer: skills, money or time. What we need is empathy and willingness.

I am grateful I am alive. I encourage you to remember their message “I am and I will  – the enduring power of cooperation and collective action.” We can put this message into practice in our daily lives.

  4. An important subject and nicely presented. “C” is a word that entered our lives over 40 years ago and it has returned a further 3 times since then most recently in 2020! Every day we pray for anyone who has suffered the consequences of this awful disease. We are thankful for all the help received, both practical and spiritual. 🙏

  9. Such a beautiful encouraging video! So many faces, young and old have suffered through cancer and came out victorious on the other side. I thank God for the help he gives each one of them. Thank you for bringing recogntion to this day.
