My Desire to Renew My Afrikaans Language and Heritage
I would like to take this opportunity to announce that I have chosen to collaborate with Operation X and this is my first post explaining my hopes and challenges which I re-blog here. In future I will write some of these posts in Afrikaans. Thank you to all my followers for reading and commenting. I hope you will find this ‘thread’ of my journey interesting in the months to come.
Take care.
Dear Morag, Wishing you well with your challenge and opportunity. I have for a long time wanted to learn another language and when the latest lockdown occurred I signed up for an online course of French! I did a couple of years at school, over 50 years ago, so I thought I might have a ‘head start’. I’m enjoying it but it is a big challenge for me! I look forward to following you on Operation X if Google Translate works for Afrikaans. Good luck πΏππ

Thank you so much for your wishes. I think it’s very good to pick up an old hobby or part time study to keep the gray matter ticking over. I wish you all the best with your French studies too. πππΉ

Thank you, it’s going to be a challenge but I am keen to learn… And learn what I can about my roots too.

I liked the last line about roots. That’s very important, one should not forget. Thanks π

Hoe lui die Engelse spreekwoord … “practice makes perfect” π.

I struggled just writing that one line βΊοΈbut itβs the autocorrect and I suppose the lack of practicing and writing in Afrikaans. You are going to do so well and I am looking forward to supporting your collaboration blog

Thank you, I have really struggled with my first post… It took me 10 or 15 minutes per sentence and then I am so rusty with my grammar. Oh my goodness. It is now waiting to be edited by an Afrikaans teacher. Once it is done I will post it, hopefully soon. Thank you so much for your wishes. I appreciate it. ππΉ
