Meditation Knitting Introduction

Hello, I hope you had something that you can look back on this weekend that lifted your spirit. I have an interesting concept to share with you today as I re-blog this post from Ellie. I promote the practice of the deep reflective process as well as meditation. I think Ellie’s post shows a unique use of knitting in meditation especially if you are one of those many people who don’t like sitting still in meditation. Some people are kinetic by nature: they learn through movement, relax through movement and think through movement. I am one of those people. This is the first of a three-part series. I will share the other posts later but if your curiosity is piqued go to her blog and have a look at them. Have a good week and take care.

Dear Readers,

Today I want to talk a bit about meditation knitting. It seems to be a popular phrase these days, I have seen many articles talk about knitting as mediation but they don’t really go into detail. They just say that knitting is good for you and your mind. So I have decided to write a series of blog posts about mediation knitting.(I would like to note that although I have written this is knitting most of this applies to crochet too! )

  1. This is so beautifully written … and I think I now understand better why my mom is loving to knit and crochet so much (I sometimes notice that she is in her own world while doing this).
Now, I just need to learn to work with wool … 😊

  2. Hi, Morag, this is fascinating! So that’s what my mother was doing whilst she was knitting! 😊 Bless her! All those scarves, hats, gloves, socks, pullovers, cardigans……πŸ™. Oh, how I miss her; her beautiful hands.

      • On reading your blog this morning, thinking about my mother and writing that down brought, stopped me in tracks! It’s just over 5 years since she passed away and I’ve just thought about her so-articulate hands! Hands that mended my cut knees when I fell as a child, hands that soothed a fevered brow, hands that reached out when she needed help walking, hands that I held as she left this world πŸ™
