Was today typical?

Yes and no. I plan my days at the beginning of the week, from what I am going to cook, to what activities need doing and all the routine things too. Sounds mundane but it keeps me sane.

The part that was not typical is that we are looking after my daughter’s cats. They live just next door, well upstairs. I let them out to romp and play and later in the morning I went to visit them. Salty, the white cat, came running across the lawn and repeatedly tackled my feet.

We went inside and played kitty games and eventually she came and slept on my lap. This is definitely not how I usually spend my day but it was heart warming to commune with Salty.

After that I did my normal chores and spoke to people I normally speak to. I think life has a funny way of being interesting. And often my days are not the same while still doing the mundane. I like it that way.

  2. What a lovely way to spend unplanned, free time! I napped beside my Norie this morning after breakfast. Sweet way to spend a bit of a morning. Love the image in my head of you and Salty. Hugs and a lovely day!

    • Thank you, the days are full of the things we omit to write about as well. My husband said I can share this…. I was up with the cats because he was in a very grumpy mood because of lack of sleep.. That’s not typical either… But I decided to stay out of his way… Since we work from home. He said he thought I was going to write about it. That is the full story 😅😅

  5. Salty…slept in your lap. What a good cat. Our cat, Mary, is a feral and goes hiding when someone new shows up. If she does venture out to make an appearance, I’ve been told she paw slaps people as they pass. Is that a reflection on my mothering skills…? 😅 🐈

    • Yes, Salty has become quite attached to me over the years. I seem to know how to handle anxious animals and make them feel at home. She’s had quite a journey from being found all alone one stormy night in a car park when she was 4 weeks old, to being handed over to me when my daughter left for Scotland. Feral cats are also timid and independent… But I am sure it is rewarding and special forming a bond with Mary. I am sure you are a good mother to her, she’s just suffered trauma, 😜😻

  6. I think spending time with a pet (even if it’s someone else’s pet) can brighten up one’s day quite a bit. I also usually plan in the morning what I’m going to do for the rest of the day … but that sometimes changes when I’m reading a good book, because then I’m reading all day instead of doing chores 😁.
