Our main goal was getting to Etosha Nature Reserve. I had heard so much about since I was a teenager and I was excited to see all the wild animals. I had been to the Kruger National Park and seen lions, elephants, leopards etc. , but nothing could prepare me for what I was going … Continue reading Visting Etosha Nature Reserve.

Breast Reconstruction
What I remember clearly is that I was very happy to know that we could go traveling in Africa between the nipple construction healing and the tattoo colouring which were done when we got back from our trip.
Scenes of the North Western Cape, en-route.
The infamous goat kraal that we had to look out for, to make a right turn in order to find the Namibian border.
African trip: we were lost.
...traveling 'blind' in the wilderness is very exciting on the one hand but when we realized we were lost and didn't know where we were or when we would find a place to sleep it was very anxiety provoking. This type of situation asks me to reach deep into myself...
Our African trip: Eating simply
Our trip was in 2013 but these days what with global warming, carbon emissions and the like we would want to consider the amount of animal protein we eat and what we would replace it with. The laptop had stolen hours from Derek’s packing time as it had crashed the day before. I had saved all my research of places we … Continue reading An African Trip, Day 1: 30th May 2013
An African Adventure: Cars and equipment
When we first began to talk about the trip we didn’t know where we wanted to travel. We just knew we had the desire to go so we sat down and made a list of what we each wanted individually. We then took from our lists all the common interests. Originally Derek had wanted to … Continue reading An African Adventure: Cars and equipment
An African adventure began to stir in our hearts.
In January, 2013 Derek said: ‘Let’s go on an American road trip this year.’ He was hungry for new experiences in the moment since my brush with cancer. The cogs in my brain whizzed, remembering a recent story of a friend who had been ‘dragged’ through Mozambique and Zimbabwe by her husband who had been … Continue reading An African adventure began to stir in our hearts.
