What’s your favorite time of day?
My favorite time of day Where I dream of word play, I think I must be crepuscular, Is twilight: dawn and dusk, when I prey You see, I capture my nocturnal dreams In the morning, like the hunt And In the evening, I snatch my day-dreams cat kneading or logging them Like preening for the night.
When I lived in South Africa Dawn and dusk takes, Just enough time To purr-collate my dreams Transitions. Now living in Scotland I'm drenched in the slow Beautiful transition That takes it's time Like a long cat-stretch When the sun's rays Find it's way Washing it's shine Onto the canvas of clouds Like a holy glow.
Winter dawn Landscape laden in snow, As the sun creeps up the slow-sky It's salmon-pink paints All in a marmalade tone: Sky, fields, puddles, and trees all a wry. My dreams emerge like salmon Wending their way upstream To complete life's circuition.
The winter dusk, Offers a delicate and magical atmosphere, blessed with a transformative air, While wild beasts and farm animals Meet in eerie communion. As for My day dreams - They cat-loaf with a contented purr.
And that's all
I have to say
about my crepuscular
time of day.

Stay well, whatever time of day it is for you.
Warm smiles coming your way.

I donβt know why but when I wanted to post my comment it said-βthis cannot to be postedβ. Shame, because I said only nice things about your beautiful writing.

Thank you, it was a memorable cruise. We slept on the ferry. It took the the whole night. In the middle of the night we could see millions of little lights of the fishermen. It reminded me of fireflies.

Beautiful. I especially like:
“I’m drenched in the slow
Beautiful transition”
It perfectly sums up the feeling of luxuriating in the majestic, slowly changing colours of dawn and dusk.

The poem beautifully captures the essence of the crepuscular hours, the transitional moments between day and night and the personal connection the poet has with it. The imagery and wordplay in the poem create a vivid picture of the poet’s favourite time of the day and how it inspires her thoughts and dreams.
The use of cat-related imagery, such as “cat kneading” and “cat stretch,” adds a delightful and whimsical touch to the description. It’s as if she is drawing parallels between the natural behaviours of cats and her creative processes during twilight.
The transition from South Africa to Scotland and the descriptions of the changing landscapes and lighting conditions further emphasize the idea of transition and transformation during these special times of the day.

I like Scotland. I like how cold the place looks and how everything looks like with fog. Makes things like memoirs.
