Giving Impressions & Doing Impressions

What’s the first impression you want to give people?

What is an impression? In the artistic sense it’s about making an imprint or mark on paper or a vessel or an object. I learned from a young age that I enjoy making impressions of paper, vessels and objects – And on you.

First came the Impressionists, they were all about capturing the light or colour with it’s fleeting qualities, or portraying the impression of an object, as seen by them; then along came the Post-impressionists and the Expressionists. Once I learned about the Expressionists I realized I had found my niche. I enjoy expressing my thoughts with you.

Yes, I did do impressions, once upon a time, somewhat like doing impersonations; they are not the real deal. I thought I would be more acceptable if I did an impression but now days I would hope that your first impression of me would be the real me, nothing more and nothing less.

I think that’s got to do with being an expressionist. It would not really be expressing if you didn’t get it. I would not be an expressionist if you didn’t get me.

To do impressions is to be expressionless in your world.

Have a wonderful Sunday.

Take care, Morag

  1. Yes, Morag, I agree! However, I would add that we might not have expressed ourselves if we hadn’t at first given an impression! πŸ˜‰
“doing impressions” as in your title reminds me of those comedians who would “do an impression” of some famous person like a politician, only doing or saying something very silly! πŸ€£πŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈ
