As I drive to my destination
along the River Tweed
My heart settles...
I can see the farmland
and the rolling hills
Softened by the damp air.
It hasn't rained today but
everything is still wet
from the day before.
The winter-green is greener
Than I imagined were possible.
The buildings, grey, to match the day.
It's a two o'clock sun peeping askance through the fluffy clouds,
Shining silver along the winding river
Creating silhouettes of undressed shivering trees.
With leaves like clothes upon the ground.
My heart settles
as I find myself at my destination
Only to realise I am an hour early.
So I write this poem and wait.
Have a wonderful week
Morag Noffke
What a wonderful poem, Morag, especially your ending! I had to smile!!

😄😂 I’m glad it made you smile. I’m a stickler for punctuality but sometimes I catch myself out by being too early 😂 thank you for reading it.

As I read this the sun broke through the clouds here in Milwaukee. Beautiful, Morag.

Lovely lines, Morag. I was reading along, enjoying the imagery, then laughed out loud at the ending! What better way to use the spare time than write a poem! Cheers!

I’m always an hour early at least, Morag,… I can’t seem to relax unless I’m there, waiting, before time, …. And I love your poem., … your imaginative description, … absolutely beautiful, showing nature and our reaction to her ‘seasonal greetings,’ … 💙🤗

Thank you 🙏 yes I can’t be late. I also can’t relax. And I often think I must leave 30 minutes earlier, when Derek says we could get there in 10 minutes. But then I confused myself by leaving 30 minutes before the 30 minutes. Thank you for enjoying the drive with me. 😄💟
