Saying good bye to new friends made and Portugal
Our host, Paulo, offered us a traditional dinner of sardines cooked over the fire by a neighboring farmer and bread baked locally by another farmer. This was our last night spent altogether at Monte da Largo and it was a wonderful occasion to get to know some of the local people as well. The next day we traveled back to Lisbon to spend an evening together at a restaurant as way of a farewell to all, but especially Paulo for making it possible for this reunion and for all of us to stay together; for this we were very grateful. Β
Derek spent the last afternoon and evening with the group while I stayed at our lovely accommodation offered to us by Helen as I was not healthy enough yet to walk any distance. It was disappointing for me not to say goodbye personally but it had been a spur of the moment decision. I am looking forward to seeing them all again as we have agreed to meet up in a few years time.
The next day we took a different tour around Lisbon and spent lunch at a Portuguese book fair in the shade of the trees. This is my last post of our adventure in Portugal. As I have mentioned if you want to see the photos please pop along to morag_armstrong_noffke at Instagram.
My last Portuguese soul poem: Artistic interpretations Sightseeing Buildings Telling their/our truths Stories upon stories Histories back to back Multicultural living Side by side I am honored to visit and admire and I am honored to share with Derekβs school friends.
Thank you to all my readers, and especially to my new friends I met in Portugal who followed along for this series of posts. I appreciate you comments on Facebook.
Take care,
A warm smile coming your way, wherever you are in the world.

What beautifully worded descriptions and memories. Glad things went so well.

Thank you, it really was. It was an impromptu visit to Portugal. I feel so connected, I dream of going back. I think I am also totally sold on pastel de nada. I must get the recipe!
