The Road…

As I drive to my destination
along the River Tweed
My heart settles...
I can see the farmland
and the rolling hills
Softened by the damp air.
It hasn't rained today but
everything is still wet
from the day before.
The winter-green is greener
Than I imagined were possible.
The buildings, grey, to match the day.
It's a two o'clock sun peeping askance through the fluffy clouds,
Shining silver along the winding river
Creating silhouettes of undressed shivering trees.
With leaves like clothes upon the ground.
My heart settles
as I find myself at my destination
Only to realise I am an hour early.
So I write this poem and wait.

Have a wonderful week

  1. I’m always an hour early at least, Morag,… I can’t seem to relax unless I’m there, waiting, before time, …. And I love your poem., … your imaginative description, … absolutely beautiful, showing nature and our reaction to her ‘seasonal greetings,’ … 💙🤗
