I am very focused on a great big pastel drawing of a dream at the moment. It is 2meters by 1.60 meters. So I am showing you a throwback from my Bloggers.com account. It is A Face Layered in Kind. It was done in April 2012 done just a few months before I discovered I had breast cancer.
It is my face and it represents the Shadow and Gold in each of us which I often write about. She is mixed media: layered paint, collage, black ink, tissue and glitter. I love how the art process is so symbolic of the layers in our lives, the layers which shroud our faces and hearts. The black ink and glitter represents the shadow and gold.
She stares directly into the mirror reflecting her qualities, both shadow and gold, sad and wholesome. Which will she decide to embrace? Which will she discard? Indecently my brush with cancer was the fire that seared away the unnecessary. It drove home what was important in my life and what wasn’t.

Very interesting. I love the layering technique. My wife did trash can layered with different colors of tissue paper back when she was in College. I remember doing decoupage as well.
