We are cat-sitting for my daughter and son-in-law while they visit South Africa. It feels a bit like a holiday. While we are here I have completed a knitted summer top, and now I am working on up-cycling a skirt and have another project waiting in the wings of my basket. I often listen to uplifting podcasts or watch tutorials that add to the inspiration buzzing around in my mind while I craft. I also have time for my thoughts to percolate. I wrote a little poem as I sat in the garden and observed.
Moments in nature
Do we carve out time?
It depends on our focus
Sometimes
I am like a bee
gathering
Sometimes like a bird
Sings happily
Sometimes like a cat
Ambling through life
All parts are welcome
Flowing with ease
Each happens when the time is right
I change
As and when
it's time
Gathering humming
Singing watching
Listening resting
Searching
All important
For living
Listen
Absorb
Then do.
I thought about the lives of the bee, the bird and the cat and how I relate to each. The bee symbolizes a busy little gatherer, always in the sun, darting from flower to flower. There is a part of me that gathers the pollen ‘of life’ like the bee, as I gather ideas and inspiration and knowledge for future creative escapades. The bird symbolizes spirit in the spiritual world connecting sky and land through flight and movement. It goes where it wants with the greatest of ease using its wings and I feel as connected to earth and the heaven as my spirit is allowed to take flight as well. The bird’s song is such a sacred sound and always when I hear bird calls I feel my spirit called as well. The cat is a complicated creature, precise and fast, determined and accomplished yet spends time restfully reclined as if replenishing its body. I relate to the short bursts of high energy that is focused on efforts yet I have also learnt to rest like the cat to refresh my soul. These creatures inspire my inner world of thoughts.
My daytime rests encompass observations and reflections and this little short: Moments in Nature captures my observations though video and images. Step into ‘Moments in nature’ with me… listen to the birds and the bees, and breathe for two minutes. Take some rest.
These are the things that bring me joy.
Take care,

Thank you, Morag, for your beautiful words and observations. 🌸💗

Such a delightful visit. I’d been wrestling with commas (to say the least) on a submission and you blew in like a breeze of acceptance and creativity, saying, shh, rest, now, rest. Hear the birds..? Yes I do. 🥰❤️🌷🌺

Oh thank you M, she comes all the way from South Africa and was originally found as a baby in a parking lot in a storm. She was just 4 weeks old, eyes not properly open. My son-in-law nursed her but she’s a strange wee thing, very feisty. Loves human company but bites or scratches at odd times. But I love her dearly. And she is very pretty 😍. Happy 1st of June, white rabbits

Bees and ants are considered by some scientist as the most similar human behavior. No one thinks about that, nevertheless is true. They eork hard using high levei of inteligence. Also, they never procrastinate, they do right way. Your poem is full of grace.

So beautiful. There is a certain peace that comes from quietly working. Small tasks are just as important and satisfying as the big ones. Nature doesn’t think about big or small, it just does. It just is. What a great reminder.
